Can I show a presentation?
Yes. The app comes with a complimentary presentation so that you can get a taste for using Idea Flight to share information. If you would like to show your own presentations, simply become a Pilot by making an in-app purchase.
During the presentation, can I go back to a particular screen?
Yes, but the Pilot needs to switch to Unlocked mode to allow passengers to scroll or tap through the presentation.
Can I save the presentation on my iPad?
Yes, if the Pilot grants you access to it. You will need iBooks or another PDF reader to view the presentation without Idea Flight.
How do I see who else is watching the Idea Flight presentation?
Tap on the people icon on the lower left corner of your Idea Flight screen to see the Passenger Manifest.
Why is there a LinkedIn and Facebook button?
You don’t have to have a LinkedIn or Facebook account, but if you login to your account, the Pilot and other Passengers will be able to see your name and title (if provided) and can invite you to Connect.
Why can’t I see my Pilot?
Use this handy list to check the following:
- You are in the same location with your Pilot and he/she has indicated your “flight” has started
- Everyone’s on the same, stable (working) Wi-Fi or Bluetooth network.
- Both you and the Pilot have installed Idea Flight. Your Pilot opened Idea Flight & selected “Pilot”
- The PDF your Pilot is presenting is viewable on the Pilot’s iPad within Idea Flight (you cannot see this from your iPad, but can gently suggest this means of troubleshooting if you are so bold).
- You opened Idea Flight and selected “Passenger”
I checked all of the above and still can’t connect, why?
The new features included with idea Flight 2.1.1 are not backwards compatible with our previous iterations. All participants need to upgrade to be compatible with this version.
Why upgrade to Pilot?
Upgrading to Pilot allows you to lead presentations from your iPad across multiple iPads. For more information about being a Pilot, check out the FAQ for Pilots.
How do I become a Pilot?
Tap the airplane icon in the lower left corner of your screen and make an in-app purchase. Choose Pilot when you open Idea Flight whenever you are giving the presentation.
I am a Passenger, what is the new icon in the lower left side next to the scrubber?
That is the Call Button. If the Pilot activated this feature for your meeting the button will be black and white. If not, the button will be greyed out.
What does the Call Button do?
It allows passengers to signal to their Pilot that they have a question or comment. Should a Passenger’s inquiry be addressed at any point making the “call” no longer necessary, Passengers can simply Cancel.
Do I have to pay additional for Notes?
No, Notes is included in the initial download of Idea Flight.
But I haven’t paid for the Pilot version either…You’re giving me a free note-taking application?
Yep, that’s how it worked out… you’re welcome
How do I open Notes while in a presentation?
To create a new Note during a presentation, simply tap on the upper right hand “Compose” icon on the navigation bar. To return to the full screen presentation mode, tap “Hide” and you can go back and forth in this same manner.
What about when I’m not in a presentation… where are they kept?
It will automatically be saved to a local folder, accessible from the “Notes” icon on the Homescreen for anytime access. Plus, if you have a Dropbox account, make sure you’re logged in – we’ll automatically create a new folder called /IdeaFlight/ and save all your Notes there, too!
What can I do with my Notes other than save and access them… can I share them?
Yes, you can email them to yourself or others by tapping the “Arrow” icon in the navigation.
My Pilot set a Boarding Passcode. What is this?
Sometimes, Pilots have particularly sensitive content to present, so we created Boarding Passcode for these types of gatherings. This adds security already offered by most closed wi-fi networks. Boarding Passcode is free for Passengers to participate in as long as their Pilot has version 2.1.1. Passengers DO HAVE TO HAVE VERSION 2.1.1 of IDEA FLIGHT which is FREE to download, it only takes a few moments and can be done from their iPad. No installations from IT, approvals or long download time is required. Go to www.ideaflight.com/app for the most recent version if you don’t have version 2.1.1 or higher.
How does Pinch & Zoom work?
The same way it does on most apps for iOS. Pinching and Zooming pulls and stretches images and content in and out.
Can I use this feature when my Pilot “Unlocks” his/her presentation?
Yes, in “Locked” mode, Pilots direct the experience, but in “Unlocked” mode, Passengers can move about the content and get close up or pull back as they wish.
What happens when my Pilot “Locks” the presentation again?
As soon as the Pilot decides to ‘Lock’ the presentation again…everyone must go back to their seats and they regain control of the content.
I am experiencing crashing. What could this be caused by?
An absence of iBooks can lead to unexpected crashing. You can download this free app by visiting the iTunes Store. (Thank you to Ms. Davis’ class at Westwood Schools in Camilla, GA for identifying and pointing this out.)
